A much-branched, small, short-lived, perennial, subshrub-like herb. Leaves small, entire, sessile. Flowers small, subsessile, aggregaged in brateate clusters at the ends of the branchlets. Sepals 5, obovate, subequal, imbricate, coriaceous. Corolla 5-lobed; tube campanulate; lobes ovate, imbricate in bud, spreading. Ovary 2-locular, 4-ovuled. Fruit capsule 2–4-valved, usually single-seeded. Seed glabrous and shining, dark brown. Worldwide: 1 species in the tropics. Kenya: 1 taxon. |
