Compound, leaflets oval, opposite, very slightly discolorous, mostly imparipinnate. Fruits: pods, clustered, brown and leathery, splitting to reveal oval red seeds with a black tip.

Sepals 5, free, ovate, up to 3 x 1.5 mm, pink with hyaline margins. Petals lacking. Stamens 10; filaments pink; anthers cream-coloured. Common: especially in disturbed areas!.

Notes: Bulbs received from Prof. Dr. O. Khler for identification purposes. Veldkos of bushmen. Knolle with light, fibreous outer layer and numerous new bulbs, which are up to pea-size. Erect plant, up to 60 cm high. Flowers sulphur yellow, with very fine red stripes, which are unconspicuous. Bulbs were received in October 1968. Khwe-name: /on.
